Alabama is the 22nd state of the United States.

It is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Mississippi to the west, Georgia to the east, and Florida to the south and east.

It includes part of the Gulf of Mexico.

Alabama is the 30th largest state in the United States and has one of the nation's longest waterways.

During the Civil War, Alabama suffered economic hardship and in the 1950s people were forced to eat at cafes and sit on parts of a bus based on their skin color.

Alabama is nicknamed the Yellowhammer State and it's largest city is Birmingham. It's state bird is the Yellowhammer. The state capital is Montgomery and the oldest city is Mobile.
